At Dordick Law Corporation, we’re proud to participate in the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) an initiative that empowers high school students across Southern California to gain paid, hands-on professional experience. This year, our Beverly Hills office welcomed Kendrick Johnson, a high school student from Compton whose interest in law is driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference in his community.
Finding Purpose Through Experience
Before joining Dordick Law Corporation, Kendrick spent time at other law firms but shared that his experience here has felt uniquely impactful.
“At other law firms I wasn’t as involved as I feel I am now. Here I’m helping with more tasks, which is helping me grow a broader perspective on law. I’ve been having a great time learning more about the field and talking to people about how they got into law.”
From his first day, Kendrick demonstrated genuine curiosity, eager not only to complete assignments, but to engage deeply with the people and stories of the legal profession.
Learning Through Mentorship
Kendrick often takes the initiative to meet with team members, learning about their journeys and the paths that led them to law.
“Sometimes I’ll see people around the office and ask them about their background, what they majored in, how law school was for them, and what made them want to get into law. Hearing their stories gives me a better grasp of the work and dedication that goes into this profession.”
One standout moment was his conversation with Associate Attorney Brittney Ghadoushi, who not only answered his questions but also invited him to observe live depositions, giving him firsthand exposure to litigation.
Brittney shared her own reflections on mentoring Kendrick:
“It’s incredibly rewarding to see how motivated and curious Kendrick has been throughout his internship. Watching him take such genuine interest in the legal process and actively seek to understand the ‘why’ behind what we do has been inspiring. Mentoring students like Kendrick reminds us why we love this work, it’s fulfilling to help shape the next generation of attorneys.”
Looking Toward a Future in Law
With each new experience, Kendrick’s passion for the legal field continues to grow, fueled by the dedication, compassion, and commitment he sees at work every day. His time at Dordick Law Corporation has reinforced not only his desire to pursue a legal career, but also his belief in using that career to uplift others.
When asked whether he would recommend CWSP at Dordick Law Corporation to other students, Kendrick didn’t hesitate:
“Honestly, yes, because you get such a hands-on experience. Instead of just being told about the work, you’re actually helping out and being part of it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a lot.”
Honored to Be Part of His Path
At Dordick Law Corporation, we are proud to invest in our Los Angeles community by helping cultivate the next generation of legal professionals. Kendrick’s journey is just beginning, and we are honored to support him as he explores the field. His curiosity, drive, and genuine desire to help others are qualities we value deeply, and we look forward to seeing all that he will achieve.
With offices in Beverly Hills, Downtown Los Angeles, and Riverside, our firm remains committed to providing meaningful learning opportunities and uplifting the communities we serve.
