We are thrilled to announce that retired Superior Court Judge Michael Linfield has joined Dordick Law Corporation as our new Litigation Director. His extensive background in law, human rights, and civil liberties, coupled with his distinguished judicial career, makes him a remarkable addition to our team.

His journey in the legal field began with his cum laude graduation in philosophy from UCLA in 1972. After earning a teaching credential and working in the L.A. Unified School District, Michael dedicated a decade in labor and political organizing, including serving as chief lobbyist for Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers Union, and as West Coast Director of the J.P. Stevens Boycott. His commitment to social justice was evident early in his career, advocating for workers' rights and community campaigns.

In the early 1980s, Michael's expertise was recognized as he served as a special liaison to Governor Brown on pension investment issues and later as Deputy to the Mayor of West Hollywood. His passion for human rights led him to Harvard Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1989. During his time at Harvard, he was awarded a Ferguson Fellowship to study Human Rights in Nicaragua and served as an intern to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nicaragua.

After Harvard, Michael joined the Century City law firm of Alschuler, Grossman, and Pines, representing corporations in complex financial litigation. In 1992, he founded his own law practice, focusing on discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, civil rights, and consumer fraud cases. Michael's legal acumen was evident as he briefed and argued numerous cases before the California Supreme Court, the California Court of Appeal, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Michael is also an accomplished author. His book, Freedom Under Fire: U.S. Civil Liberties in Times of War, remains a seminal work on wartime civil liberties violations in the United States.

In 2003, Governor Gray Davis appointed Michael as a judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court. His judicial assignments were diverse, ranging from domestic violence courts to family law, limited civil, and general civil assignments. Michael's innovative approach to justice is notable; he was the first judge in Los Angeles County to hold an expedited jury trial and the first in California to introduce iPads for jurors to view exhibits during trials.

In 2023, Michael was named Judge of the Year by the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, a testament to his exemplary service and commitment to justice. His leadership extended beyond the courtroom as he organized and led a judicial delegation to Ukraine in the same year.

We are incredibly proud to welcome Michael Linfield to Dordick Law Corporation. His extensive experience, innovative spirit, and dedication to justice align perfectly with our firm's mission to provide exceptional legal representation and advocacy for our clients.

Michael Linfield's appointment as our Litigation Director marks a significant milestone for Dordick Law Corporation. His leadership will undoubtedly enhance our firm's ability to deliver justice and uphold the highest standards of legal excellence.

Join us in welcoming Michael Linfield to our team. We look forward to the incredible impact he will have on our firm and the continued success we will achieve together.
