Cheryl Augustine v. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Gary A. Dordick and Associate Attorney Taylor Dordick represent Cheryl Augustine in her case against actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In January 2022, Ms. Augustine suffered serious and permanent injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, after Schwarzenegger admitted running a red light and causing the collision. The upcoming trial will focus on the compensation for those injuries. With the trial approaching, Schwarzenegger and Oak Productions have filed a motion asking the Court to impose additional security measures and require the plaintiff to pay for them. On September 28, 2026, Dordick Law Corporation filed an opposition challenging the request as an unconstitutional “trial tax” that would infringe on First Amendment rights.
Schwarzenegger is expected to be the first trial witness. The trial begins Monday, October 12, 2026, at the Beverly Hills Courthouse.
Dordick Law Corporation Files Three Lawsuits Over X2 Brain Injuries as Six Flags Permanently Closes Ride
On September 22, Dordick Law Corporation held a press conference announcing the filing of the first three lawsuits involving serious brain injuries suffered by riders of Six Flags Magic Mountain’s X2 roller coaster. Since then, Dordick Law Corporation has retained 150 additional clients and been contacted by hundreds more people who believe they were injured on the ride. The announcement brought widespread attention to the injuries associated with X2, with coverage from CNN, ABC, The New York Times, CBS, and international media outlets. The media attention and public discussion came before Six Flags announced on September 29 that X2 would permanently close.
Following the closure, Gary A. Dordick issued a statement.
“Closing the ride protects future guests, and we welcome that. But it does nothing for the people who have already been hurt. Six Flags must now take responsibility for them.”
The closure does not change Dordick Law Corporation‘s commitment to litigating these cases on behalf of our clients.
Los Angeles Court Upholds Award Arising Out Of Historic Jane Doe v. Alkiviades David Verdict
The California Courts of Appeal has rejected Alkiviades David’s challenge to the judgment entered against him in the matter entitled Jane Doe v. David Alkiviade, et al, leaving the $90 million award in place. Mr. David argued, among other claims, that he had not been properly notified of certain court proceedings and the amount of the judgment was excessive and unconstitutional.
A Court of Appeal in the Second Appellate district disagreed, finding no basis to reverse or vacate the judgment. The ruling marks another significant development in the case following Dordick Law Corporation‘s record-setting jury verdict.
CAALA VEGAS 2026 Closing Panel: “The Case That Taught Me the Most” – Trial Lessons From Gary A. Dordick
Every trial lawyer has a case they still think about. At CAALA Vegas 2026, Gary A. Dordick shared one of those cases during the closing panel, “The Case That Taught Me the Most.”

Gary A. Dordick shared how he built his strategy around the case’s liability challenge, approached jury selection with that in mind, and earned the credibility needed to help the jury understand why his client deserved compensation and why awarding it was the right thing to do.
The jury ultimately awarded a $55.3 million verdict. Read the full story to learn the trial lessons Gary A. Dordick took from one of the cases that has stayed with him.
